I love this. Every word is delicate and beautiful. I appreciate also for the insight; it really helps to put the work into context. You have real talent. Thank you for sharing.
I am so grateful to hear that this touched you, thank you so much for spending time-- it truly means worlds to me. And I thank you also for commenting on the insights portion, as I am sometimes unsure if it helps the reader (as I am thrilled to hear it does for you) or if it works against their enjoyment of the poem itself. Thank you so much!
To me, it helps crystalize the poem into something real. I can still see it from my own subjective viewpoint, but then it adds a human element and becomes objective, like insight into another person's soul. How fantastic would it be if we had these types of insights from Beaudelaire or Henley or Cummings? Again, beautiful.
Oh, Sin, you have brought tears to my eyes with this. It's just what I had hoped to allow, a window of sorts. Maybe that's why I felt a bit hesitant to share it all, that it would be 'too much' of me getting in the way.
I love that you can hold the two at once, the subjective and the objective. You have given me a gift with this. I can trust that nothing is lost. Thank you so much.
And oh, what a thing to imagine! I feel most compelled now to read from the Flowers of Evil... and Cummings, he is desperately precious to me. What a mind.
Imagine if we did have these insights... perhaps this is our fascination with diaries: Nin, Miller, etc.
Flowers of Evil is where I truly found "permission" to use my own voice. Such an inspiration. As are you. I hope you wouldn't mind if I begin putting some personal gnosis about my own poems when I post them, moving forward.
That is just beautiful. And thank you for your kindness, I am humbled.
I think it's wonderful that you would add your personal gnosis to your works. Having had our exchange here, I can see how it adds a richness for both reader and creator.
Just have to say, I really treasure that you spent time, really spent time.
It's funny these days with all the buzz about stats and likes, but it's the spending of time that means the world. I know time and attention is scarce for everyone, I don't take that lightly.
Cheers, Kyle Horrorble. So damn glad we've connected.
I could not be more deeply moved that you find this post exquisite. You know, with everything that you are, you know of what you speak. My incredible friend, thank you.
Anne Carson is truly monumental, isn't she. I wish I could show you this book. It rips my heart apart, and mends it. The sheer devotion to each and every word.

It is my true pleasure, and especially to know you liked this. You write so beautifully, melodically. You just make me smile each time! :)
I read it multiple times and studied the structuring as well. Very cool.
Thank you too, you’re really too kind and right back at ya. Enjoying following your work.

Very nice! I personally like creative formatting, it makes it more word art 🎨 Nice connection to the book too!
I'm so glad you agree, Josh! It is unique to poetry. No wonder we adore it. :)
I hope to share some of the fragments from this book on Notes, it is enchanting to see visually.
